It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

It is the most wonderful time of the year, isn't it? It is a time that we all spend with family, friends, baking,  eating, yummy smells and oh so much more :)
I love this time of the year.
I found this questionnaire to share with you on how we go about our holiday traditions and making memories. Being that it is December 1st, I figure there couldn't be a better time time than now to talk about how I 'do' Christmas :)

{1} Warpping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper hands down. There is no other option for me. I love ripping open gifts. I love tearing apart the pretty paper (that we all spend $$ on). I love seeing the joy and excitement on faces when they are unraveling their gifts. It's the best feeling :) Oh and I do not put ribbons and bows on my gifts. Those things just make it that much harder to open gifts. Sometimes it takes the joy out of the tearing process because you gotta go get scissors or a knife to cut the ribbon.
oohh I am getting so super excited for Christmas!!! :)

{2} When do you put up the tree?
Christmas decorating begins right after Thanksgiving is over. Literally like the next day we are putting up all the Christmas decor. The tree usually gets put up the first weekened in Decemeber, just to make sure it stays fresh until the day after New Years when it comes down.

{3} Real or artificial tree?
There is no other way than real.
You have to have a real tree.
You have to smell the fresh pine.
You have to water it everyday.
You just have to have a real tree.

{4} Do you like eggnog?
Oh.my.gosh.no!!! Seriously who ever invented eggnog, eeww!!!
I will however have some hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmellows on top :)

{5} Favorite gift received as a child?
I would have to say rollerblades. I remember that Christmas morning, my cousin Carrie and I both got rollerblades. We were so excited. We got the whole goofy safety getup on...knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet. Our mom's didn't forget anything. We looked so nerdy cool with all that on. :)
To this day, rollerblading is one of my favorite things to do.
Hubby and I love to rollerblade by the beach.

{6} Do you have a nativity scene?
No. My momma used to have one when I was younger, but every year pieces seem to disappear. I am not sure if I want one for my house. To me the navity scene doesn't do anything for me. When I see them, I feel like people put them out because 'it's the right thing to do'. So I am still debating whether I want one.

{7} Hardest person to buy for?
Momma. Oh my!! We always have to ask her for a list. A list of like 20 things because everything she wants seems to be so much money. Ummm...hello momma, we don't have lots of money lol
Oh and everything she wants has to be purchased online. For some reaosn, she cannot pick things that we can purchase at a store...no that would be too easy. ;)

{8} Easiest person to buy for?
Hubby. I really pay attention to what he likes throughout the year.
I make notes of it, so when Christmas roles around, I know exactly what to buy :)
I already know what I am getting him this year.
Well that is if we decide to exchange gifts wwith out lack of $$. I know he would love love this persent I have in mind.
I think just one gift for each other. That is all I am asking lol

{9} Mail or email Christmas cards?
I don't do either...does that make me a horrible person?!?! :(
Maybe once hubby and I have kiddos we will do some Christmas cards.
So we can then show off our cute little kiddos, hehe :)

{10} Favorite Christmas movie?
Oohh...I love this question.
Miracle on 34th St.
It is totally a family tradition. We watch it while decorating the Christmas tree.
And well maybe ten four more times before Christmas actually arrives. A couple years ago, momma got me my own copy, so now hubby and I can carry on the tradition with each other and then with our kiddos.

{11} When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Once Thanksgiving is over, it is all about Christmas for me.
Shopping. Baking. Wrapping. Eating. Decorating. It can all begin :)

{12} Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Seriously, you will probably think I am crazy for saying this. But I love eating M&M's Christmas morning while opening the gifts. I have never actually admitted this to anyone in my family. But momma always has M&M's during the holidays, the peanut and peanut butter ones. She always has them sitting out. So while we are all opening gifts, at 8:00am, I am chomping away on these :)
It is like the only acceptable time of the year to eat M&M's at 8:00am.

{13} Clear lights or colored lights on the tree?
Well, I grew up with momma putting colored lights on the tree. But when hubby and I had our first Christmas on our own, we put clear lights on. I like clear lights a lot better. It's kinda funny how once you have your own stuff like a Christmas tree, you decorate completely different than you did growing up. Momma loves to put tons of things on her tree, granted it is in an organized fashion, but still...not my taste. I like our tree to look uniform and simple.
our first tree together as a couple

{14} Favorite Christmas song?
The Magic of Christmas Day (God Bless Us Everyone) by Celion Dion.
Her Christmas album is beautiful. I play it over and over all season.
I also love Neil Diamond's Christmas CD's.

{15} Travel or stay at home Christmas?
I enjoy both. As long as I am with my family, I do not mind the location I am at.
Usually we stay home, but ever since my brother died we haven't, except once I think. We have gone up to my grandparents house. We have gone to Big Bear. We have gone to Fresno (hubby's family). We have gone to Oceanside. It would be nice to stay home so there isn't so much hussle and bussel, but going away always has it's perks :)

 snowboarding in Big Bear (2007)
Such a fun trip!! Aarika & I became pros :)
hotel in Fresno (2008)
Split the holiday between my family and hubby's family
Oceanside (2009)
This is the year hubby was in doing military stuff and I didn't get to spend the holiday with him :(
This is the year we ate at T.G.I.Friday for Christmas dinner...seriously, this isn't a joke.
And surprisingly there were A LOT of people doing the same thing.

{16} Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Donner, Blitzen, Comet, Cupid, Vixen, Rudolph
I am missing one I know :) Let me look it up...oh, Prancer!!
I am 26 (27 on the Dec 9th) I should know these by now.

{17} Angel on tree top or star?
I like both. Our first tree together we put up a star. A cute little star.

{18} Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Christmas Morning!!

{19} The most annoying thing about this time of year?
The traffic. eye, yi, yi!!! It is just pure craziness!!
The rudeness of customers. Seriously people it's the holidays, we are all supposed to be happy :)

{20} What I love most about Christmas...
The smells of cinnamon, christmas trees, baking, candles.
The yummy desserts.
The family time.
The Christmas music.
The wrapping of presents.
The giving of presents.
The decorations.
The shopping.
Oh I love everything about Christmas :)

Merry Christmas Ladies!!
Feel free to do the questionnaire too...but make sure you let me know,
