The Girls

I have four sisters. All are much younger than me. None of them look like me. Actually not one of us looks like the other. Well, there are reasons for that actually, but we still all are sisters. Not half-sisters. Not step-sisters. We are sisters.

I {27, almost 28} am the only daughter from my mom and my dad.
Kelley {the redhead; 22} and Lauren {the fair-skinned brunette; 19} are from my dad.
Aarika {the olive skinned; 20} is from my mom.

I share a parent with all of them. Aarika has no blood relation with Kelley and Lauren but that means nothing. They have been sisters from day one. They have been super close since day one. The family considers everyone family. There is no such thing as step in this sibling department.

Growing up the three younger girls were much closer with each other than with me. I was the older one. The one that was a 'mom' to them. The one that bossed them around. The one that always told on them because frankly...they bugged the shit out of me. They were too young to hang out with. We obviously were into different things. We have had our ups and downs. Just like any siblings do. Girls are brutal. No matter the age. I will always remember you three playing out back, with your little chunky arms and legs, with barbies. That photo is in my scrapbook at mom's...but it makes me cry every time I see it. It is a favorite memory.

But now, we are all adults. They actually confide in me now. I love it. The treat me like a sister, not a mom. Yes of course I am more motherly than they are because I am older, but I am a friend to them now. And that means the world to me.

Knowing I am the first one they call if they have guy issues. Or friend issues. Or health issues. Or other personal things, that just don't belong on the online world. They call. They call me crying. They call me laughing. They call.

You three mean the world to me. I know I may not tell you that all the time. But you do. I love having you all around. Some of my most cherished memories are the ones we shared the week of my wedding. We haven't all been together that much since we were kids. I loved it. I had a blast! Thank you all so much for that.

Just wanted to tell you all how much I love you. How much I miss you all so very much.

This is so sweet! Sisters really are the greatest - EVER! My sister is 11 years younger than me but she's finally at the age where we can hang out together and actually have fun. Sometimes I even have to go shopping in her closet... haha.
