Valentine's Day is a week away. That means we are half way through February...
oh my word where has the time gone?!?!?!
Becky @ From Mrs. to Mama is having a little link up about love.
1. How long have you and your spouse been together?
On February 15th is will be 4 years. That is the day we met actually, we don't remember the exact official date...so we just say February 15th.
{our first photo together}
2. How did you meet? {Whats your "love" story}?
In 2008 I moved to Oceanside, CA. I wanted to start my life over. Be on my own. Get away from everything I knew. It had been about a month of being there and I decided it was time to meet people. On February 12, 2008 I decided my cousin, her husband and I were going to Hooters. Yes, I know you are probably thinking really?!?! Of all places?? Maybe I neglected to mention Oceanside is a military town {I had no idea of this when I moved, honest to God...not a clue. But then of course I didn't mind at all when I found out ;) }. When we got to the restaurant there was a huge table full of guys. To say I was excited for the eye candy is an understatement. Well, we get seated near that table and my cousin's husband, genius that he is, sat so he and her would be facing the table full of guys and my back would be to them. Totally annoyed, but I didn't say anything. Then the night began...her husband and I started drinking {cousin was pregnant}, like a lot. He got the urge to walk over to the table full of Marines and ask if anyone wanted to meet the blonde chic over at his table {I was blonde at the time} because I had just moved into town and 'needed' friends. He was talking to them for about five minutes. Comes back and tells me to turn around. I don't because well I was totally tipsy and my face gets pretty red when I drink and if I am embarrassed. Well, about five minutes later a guy walks up to our table, introduces himself as Tony, then asks if he can sit with us for a bit. I was totally shy and drunk, so I wasn't looking at him when he was talking...just looking out of the corner of my eye. I offered him some drinks {on my cousins hubby's tab of course}. A while into all this, I had to pee...really badly. I get up off my stools and could hardly walk. I remember trying to keep myself up and walk straight into the bathroom. I knew I was wobbling a bit. I knew he was watching. Total embarrassment! So we were chatting for a bit. I noticed his tattoo on his wrist. First thought was oh my word this guy is hot and is a 'bad' boy...eeekkk!!! In the middle of chatting his table decided it was time to go. He asked if he could get my number, so I wrote it on a napkin. About 12:00am that night, I got a phone call from some unknown number. I answered it. It was Tony. He was checking to make sure I gave him my real number. From that point on I was totally drawn to him. I knew I was in love. I remembering tell everyone about him. He was constantly on my mind. By the time March came around, we were inseparable. About April or so he moved into my apartment. We began talking about getting engaged and getting married. We moved fast, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I truly believe God put Tony in my life to make me believe in love and faith and hope.
{when we lived in Oceanside}
3. How long have you been married?
We got married on July 17th, 2010...a year and a half.
4. Where did you get married? Big or small wedding?
We got married at Lost Canyons Golf Club in my hometown. It was gorgeous! Everything I could have ever wanted. Our wedding was about 100 people...so compared to others I know,
I'd say on the smaller side.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
Tony and I call each other lovie. A lot. He calls me Chich or Chi Chi because of having big boobs. Well actually it started before my boob job because I was making fun of myself...then once I got big boobs, it kind of just stuck.
{Disneyland 2008}
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
He makes me feel good about myself
{supports me. makes me feel sexy. pushes me to work hard. laughs with me. let's me be me}
He helps with chores
{does laundry. cleans. cooks. does dishes. takes out trash. always makes the bed. dusts. cooks}
He is passionate
{about life. about us. his hobbies. his interests}
7. Tell us how he proposed.
It was August 23, 2008. Tony called me from work around lunch time telling me he had a surprise for me when he got home. He insisted I be ready by 4pm. To dress fairly warm, at least bring a little sweater. He said to not wear any jewelry because it wouldn't be safe. Umm...ok, safe?! Like are you taking me somewhere that my life is at risk...that's what went through my head. He picked me up and we headed down the 5 freeway towards the city of San Diego. We got off the freeway and pulled into a McDonald's parking lot. I was beyond confused. We ate something real quick. Then started walking over to a van. As we got closer, the words on the van said something about Hot Air Balloon. EEKK!!! For real?!?! I got pretty nervous. We get in the van with about 10-15 other people. Drive down the freeway a bit more. Finally pulling into a dirt parking lot with a hot air balloon laying on the ground. Neither of us have ever been on a hot air balloon. I didn't think anything of this, just thought we were doing something fun for the evening. Once we were up in the air, everyone was talking photos of the gorgeous view of the ocean, clouds, sunset. It was breathtaking. Tony had ask one of the girls next to us if she could take a photo. At that moment he got down on one knee, well as much as he could get down in the tiny space, and asked me to marry him. He had the ring in his pocket the entire time. It was amazing. I am so grateful we got loads of photos, thanks to the random girl. It was beautiful. Very creative. A memory I will always cherish.
{I had to make out with him before he put the ring on my finger apparently lol}
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for V-day or
strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Truth be told, this will only be our second Valentine's day physically together. We haven't really celebrated Valentine's Day because the 15th is much more important to us. But with that being said, Tony is more of a chocolate covered strawberries kind of guy. That is what he got me last year. He knows that makes my stomach heart happy. Tony knows I would much rather get a gallon of ice cream than flowers.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or a pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Totally a pop in a movie and cuddle on the couch kind of girl. Don't get me wrong I am all for the beach and laying in the sand. But I love to be comfy cozy on the couch with my hubby.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your spouse one day.
If you could do anything. Go anywhere.
I would love to travel to Ireland and Italy with Tony. Italy is a favorite of mine. I absolutely loved everything about it when I was there in 2007. And being that Tony is Italian, it would be amazing to travel there together. Ireland has always been on my life of places...every.single.photo I see of Ireland is breathtaking. I would love to share that experience with Tony.
{on our honeymoon}
11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine's Day.
I am sure Tony will be working, so I will watch a bunch of chick flicks and cuddle on the couch.
Get myself take out, some ice cream, and super girlie movies.
12. Are you asking for anything for Valentine's day?
Nope. I wouldn't think to ask for anything. But I am giving Tony something. Remember I mentioned it has been quick a while since sexy time...well, yea.
I think it might be time to get back into the groove of things ;)
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Be silly with each other. Laugh. A lot. It is so important to laugh at yourself. At your spouse. At each other. Chase each other around the house. Have goofy nick names for each other. Talk to each other in silly voices. Bring out the kid in each other.
{giving piggy back rides...we laughed so hard we fell over multiple times}
14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
We have fun together. He protects me. We laugh. We enjoy each other.
{I'll always remember my sister, Kelley,
saying how awesome this is because he is stuffing cake in my face,
but holding me up so I don't fall.}

Once in a while right in the middle of an ordinary life,
love gives you a fairytale.
We found it!
