Blackened Mahi Tacos {SPD}

It is Thursday! 

We are one day closer to the weekend. A weekend of gorgeous weather in these parts. Let's be honest, when is the weather not gorgeous in good ol' southern cal?!

I never really know if I am wasting my time posting recipes. I hope someone recreates them, but I usually never know....until about a week or so ago my cousin Jamie {hi!! love ya} requested that I keep it up. So with that being said, you will continue to see healthy recipes from this lady! ;)

Growing up, I was not at all a fan of fish. Like I wouldn't even go near it. But now that I'm a big kid, I totally love it. I actually crave sushi. Like real sushi, the totally raw spicy tuna kind of sushi. Fish is a huge part of our diet. One thing I am trying to get my self to eat is salmon...it is a leeetle to fishy for me. 

One of my favorite fish recipes is blackened mahi tacos. Well, it doesn't have to be put into tacos but that's what we usually do. It is so tasty full of flavor. We both love it!!




  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil





  • Combine the 1-1/2 teaspoons cumin, the garlic powder, dried oregano, ground ginger, smoked paprika, salt and black and red peppers in small bowl. Stir in olive oil to make a saucy paste; divide mixture in half and set aside one portion.
  • Brush half of the paste on fish fillets; set aside. Lightly spray grill or grill pan with PAM. Heat to high heat; when hot, add fish and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side, turning once.


  • Just add all the fixins for tacos: lettuce, avocado, tomato, cheese, onion, salsa. Then devour!! 
    Super quick and super easy. Oh, just a little tip from the cook, make sure you have windows open and a fan blowing or something because this always makes the smoke alarm go off. Seriously, every.single.time!!  
    Subconsciously it happens hoping one day those hottie firemen will knock on my door. Because let's face it, in southern California we all know it is a requirement for firemen to be hot!! No joke, ask any female in so cal. Is it like this in other states?!?! And no worries, the hubby knows I feel this way. I think all firemen know women feel this way. I constantly tell the hubs he needs to become one...we'll see ;)

    Anyways...promise you will love this recipe!!! Now go with up with the gorg gals, Steph and Katie for SPD!

    These look delish! I always forget about making fish tacos and stick with chicken but I think I need to try this soon!

    Looks good! Even though my husband LOVES fishing, we don't eat fish.

    We went to outback last week (thought of you!) and Chris ordered Halibut. It was actually good, so we are looking forward to trying more fish!
