the egg retrieval {good news!}

Last Wednesday, the 15th was my egg retrieval. I was slightly nervous going in. Constantly wondering if there were going to be plenty of eggs for him to get.
So, we get there. They take Tony and I back, explain the details, I change into my hospital gown and super fancy 'spa' robe. I peed a million and one times and then I was set. It was time to get the ball rolling.
The nurse anesthetist took me into the procedure room, oh my I loved her, she was so calming and friendly and made me feel at ease. I laid down, she put a nice warm blanket over me, hooked me up to an IV. Which by the way she numbed my vein, so I didn't have to feel the sting of anesthesia. Thank goodness because by this point I wasn't nervous at all.
That could have been thanks to the relaxing meds she put through the IV prior to anesthesia. Actually it wasn't full anesthesia, it was more like a twilight. I didn't hear anything, but I wasn't hooked up to a million monitors. And with being so calm, I just kept talking to her like we were BFF's. I was telling her how much we love Coronado Island and how much I want to go to Ireland. Then I woke up and all was done and good. She asked if I wanted water or Capri Sun. I haven't had one of those since I was a kid, so naturally I opted for that ;) It seriously tasted amazing!!

Good news! Doctor retrieved more eggs than expected, he got 10!!! With my 1 little ovary he got 10. I was stoked!! And Tony's swimmers looked fantastic. So all was good when we left. Other than I was bloated for about 3 days. Like bloated to the point where I couldn't wear pants that had to button or zip. But whatevs, it will all be worth it :)
Thursday, was a hard day for me in general {see here}, but when I got a good news call from the doctor...I knew my brother was with me/us. I knew it! The doctor called to let us know 8 of the 10 embryos are maturing nicely!!! Woo hoo!!! All of this is way better than the doctor predicted with me and my history/issues. We were ecstatic!! I feel like it is a 'gift' from my brother. The embryos were conceived on 10/16...in honor of my brother's life. By the way, that was not planned at all. It all just worked out that way, and just so happened to 'his day'. So...yea, he is totally with us in this process.

Come Saturday, the doctor called again to give us an update. 6 of the 8 look fabulous!!! Yes!!! You seriously have no idea how thrilled we are to hear all this good news. We weren't expecting our numbers to be so high. We will now have embryos to freeze.

Next up...the transfer. Only time and hormones and blood levels will tell when that will occur. So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, this isn't over yet...

But... but, God is so good! My friend text me a verse yesterday and it couldn't be more perfect! "Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!" {Luke 1:45}
