Aarika just became a licensed estheician. Super proud of her.

She is awesome at what she does and loves it with a passion.

I am lucky enough to benefit from this career of hers. Which makes me super excited by the way.

I, I mean she,  gets discounts on skincare products, makeup {we just found out}, waxing, anything beauty related for the most part.

I had let my eyebrows grow out for months a month. I was super nervous to let her wax my brows. I mean come on now...brows make or break someones face. She is new at this. She has practiced, a lot, but still...I was nervous. Not to mention she had a glass or two of wine prior to the waxing party.

My mom kept reassuring me she was there to make sure everything was ok. Well mom...once the wax is on and she is pulling the paper, I am SOL if something happens.

Thank God Aarika is awesome...I still have my brows :)

And you know, I would totally let her do it again. She told me not to pluck near the hairline until she gets back to California. Have I mentioned it will be about 2 months before I see her again.

I am itching to pluck, but I am being strong. I am just getting the strays, no need to worry Aarika.

I have received many, and by many I mean many photos and videos from mom and Aarika waxing their noses. The inside of their noses. It was the most hilarious thing the first time I saw it. Aarika kept insisting when she came out to CA, I was going to have to let her do it. Well that night after my brows, I let her do it. Seriously, it is the weirdest, strangest thing. Who would ever think to wax the inside of your nose?!?! Well, I am totally doing it again.

It doesn't hurt in the least. Honestly...not at all.

It feels a little funny after...

kinda like you're naked/bare. But it is so worth it!!

I think I am now obsessed with waxing my nose.

Another night we had a masque party 

 Tony even joined in on the fun. Aarika gave us both special treatments.

My face felt amazingly fresh and new and crazy amount of clean. It was awesome!!

Can't wait for you to get home to California permanently Aarika.

I could totally get used to this kind of treatment.

There's so many benefits to having you as an esthetician....

you are going to keep us all looking so young :)

Balboa Island

A couple weeks ago we went to Balboa Island to celebrate Mother's Day. This is one of mine and Tony's favorite places. And I'm pretty sure mom loves it just as much. If we were only rich we could live there :) We brought some Panera, ate on the beach, then walked around the Island. The weathecouldn't have been more perfect. Very few clouds. The sun was out. It was gorgeous!

We ended our day by going here.

It is the best!!! A tradition since I was a little kid.

Starbucks Fridays

Every Friday, and maybe one or two other days during the week, I treat myself to Starbucks.

For some reason I started taking a photo of it and sending to Aarika and posting it on Instagram...silliness!

When mom and Aarika came to town, I made them be in the photos too!! :)

lots of celebrating

when celebrating a 21st birthday, i believe you can never celebrate too much.

even if it isn't your own. so being that Aarika and I were going to be together on her actual 21st birthday, while she was in town we did a lot of drinking celebrating!

I have photos from 3 of the nights, but I am pretty sure there were quite a few more.

One involved a birthday gift of an open bottle Jack Daniels. Aarika, Tony, myself and even mom got in on the action of a shot.

I made some pretty strong drinks, as usual. I learned how to make a tequila sunrise, orwhat my version of what one would be.

Aarika freaked as soon as she swallowed...she thought running over to whip her face would help relieve the 'pain' in her throat. What a little light weight you are ;)

while mom was in town we went shooting. she is a virgin shooting, so it was exciting to watch her and see the fun she had. mom was a bit nervous at first and kept asking us what happens if someone goes crazy and starts shooting everyone. we had to ensure her that the person for one would be an idiot/crazy person and for two they would be killed instantly because there are so many people around with guns.

we had never been to this outdoor range before, and to my surprise they didn't even check ID!!! last time i went shooting in CA was in Oceanside and they made copies of our IDs...so this was kinda shocking. Texas isn't so strict, but i expected that when we lived there because everyone has guns.

mom did great!! she got close to the bulls eye so many times. next time your are out mom, we will take you shotgun and skeet shooting :)
